FAQS

This common question is very difficult to answer given the amount of variables in moulding, glass, mats, attachment techniques and backings; for example we offer 8 different glazing options which range from $50 p/m to $380 p/m.

Therefore quotes from multiple picture framers will vary as they will be quoting on different products. Any good framer is more than happy to spend some time with you designing your framing package and will quote for various options.

No, use a variety of frames that work together; it looks more interesting and frame mouldings are regularly discontinued as new ones come on the market, so matching frames when you want to add another to the group later may not be an option.

All colours will fade when subjected to UV light. This light comes not only from the sun, but also some electric light sources. If the fading is noticeable it is probable that standard float glass has been used. By replacing the existing glass with a UV absorbing glazing material fading can be almost completely halted. I recommend UV absorbing glazing in all framing.

Yes, mirrors can be mounted on to a backing which has the hanging fixings attached.

Framed medals and memorabilia often have more interest when a story is built in to the package. Photos, articles, passports and service papers are great additions to any memorabilia and help build the story. Military records scanned and printed as a montage can make an interesting and attractive mat or backing to medals.

No, they are extremely unreliable. This is a common issue we have when clients bring in a 1kg item for repair due to a 3kg rated adhesive hanger failing. In fact most suppliers of these specify on the packaging that they are not to be used for hanging pictures.

Yes, any good framer will be happy to work with existing product, but listen to the advice regarding the possible inherent issues with old materials and techniques; many materials will cause deterioration to artwork.

A mirror 1500 mm high x 400 mm wide positioned 300mm from the floor will allow you to see yourself from head to toe.
